Brothers and sisters,
It’s been on my heart for so long to start a blog where Jesus’ Truth is professed and hearts are set free. This is my first entry and I’m so excited to see where God takes me with all this!!! This first post is all about the purpose of this blog. It’s all about walking in the freedom that Jesus Christ has already purchased for us.
“For it is for Freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” Gal 5:1
Guess what… WE ARE FREE!!!! CHRIST HAS SET US FREE!! FROM EVERYTHING THIS WORLD SAYS WE ARE OR SHOULD BE!! We’re free of discouragement, pain, fear, anxiety, condemnation, rejection… Read that again. Ok. Read it again. You’re free. What are you burdened down with? You’re free. Christ has set us free. Free! Do you believe that?
If you had the choice, would you wear shackles or the wedding ring of your Beloved?
I have lived so decieved for so long. Believing that my identity is in what I do or accomplish, or what I look like. Living so often so discouraged and down trodden. Have you ever felt like you’re at the bottom of the well. So low. So overwhelmed. No breath- suffocating. Jesus came to set us free from that. To lift us up. To reach down his hands and pull us up with his strong arms and just hold us. Cradle us. Only as a Dad knows how to cradle his little child. He wants to breathe JOY and LIFE into you!
Jesus says that he has come to give us “life and life to the FULL.” John 10:10.
I want to be fully alive in Him and pursue Him with my life! Throwing off everything else!
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfector of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:1-2
Fix our eyes on Jesus.
Jesus said this. So that means it’s real. These verses and thoughts are nice “refrigerator” verses. But these aren’t meant to be taken lightly. This is to apply to our lives right here and NOW. Not to keep waiting for that moment when you think things will change… but to submit your thoughts, feelings, hurts, worries, pain… EVERYTHING to God and lay it down before Him… right NOW. For it’s only when we empty our hands that He can fill us up.
I need His help to do this though. I know I am free in Him. But it’s so easy to be posioned by this world. To try to stand and then get slammed down again. The awesome thing is that we aren’t the ones that have to pick ourselves up and make everything better. He does that for us. The thing that we have to do that is often so hard is to lay down what we’re so tightly holding on to. What are you holding onto so tightly that’s keeping you from believing the truth?
“Then you will know the Truth and the Truth will set you free.” John 8:32.
Ask God to show you Truth in your life. There’s two things that you could be living in: 1= Truth 2= A lie. the devil is a pretty good liar. But that doesn’t mean we have to live in it. We can choose to live in Truth. It’s either #1 or #2. What are you going to choose? Jesus came into the world to set us free from the lies. He has SO MUCH MORE FOR YOU!! His thoughts are higher than our thoughts and his ways are higher than our ways!!!!!!!! He said the TRUTH will set you free. So we have to start searching for the Truth about our situation and then STAND on this TRUTH!
I want to step above all the junk that’s holding me down and walk in this freedom. So often though I feel like I’m the one who has to desperately cling onto the Truth and make myself free. It’s SO HARD!! SO HARD!! Sometimes I don’t know if I have the strength to keep going. But God has been teaching me that I just have to keep giving things up to Him again and again. It’s a battle. This is a war. A war for our hearts. But guess what, Jesus has already overcome!! HE HAS ALREADY WON!!
Therefore, we ARE free. FREE!
You’re not alone. You have your Dad standing right by you- lifting up your hands and turning your face to His. Community is also so so so important. I can’t tell you how blessed I’ve been to have my dear brothers and sisters around me here at Luther. They have been such an encouragement in my life and I don’t know where I would be without them. God is so faithful.
To close, I want this blog to be about Jesus’ all consuming love for us and how we can grow to understand and experience that Love in every area of our life. This blog is a place to just be real. To be transparent and seek God in everything. He didn’t say this life was going to be easy- but He DID say that He is going to always be with us. Always.
My heart cries out for His children. I want you to see that you are free. You are free because Jesus set you free. Free from EVERYTHING this world defines us as or throws at us. This is not a trite message. Ask God what he wants you to be free of. For it’s when we abandon all and live full out for God that He can use us even more for His name.
He loves you. And he cherishes you. Walk and live in his sweet overwhelming Truth.
YOU ARE FREE!
